VERA System

Dual-beam antenna

While the VERA antenna looks like a normal one, dual-beam receiving systems are installed inside of the central dome, making it rather unique radio telescope specially designed for VLBI astrometry.

VERA antenna

The VERA telescope is an AZ-EL-mount Cassegrain antenna with 20 m diameter, operating from 2 GHz to 43 GHz. At the focus (inside the upper cabin), steerable dual-beam receivers are installed to observe two sources simultanuously.
