Planetary orbiters and/or landers can provide us with in-situ measurement data of the target bodies. Such in-depth observational data from spacecraft help us understand their origin and evolution. Japanese space agency, JAXA (Japan Aerospace and eXploration Agency), is responsible for the development and operation of spacecraft, and NAOJ, universities and other institutes develop and operate the science payloads on board the spacecraft, and also analyze the data taken by these instruments.
