The VERA Ogasawara station is located on Chichi-jima island of Ogasawara islands in Tokyo Metropolis. The Chichi-jima island is rather isolated in the Pacific Oceans, about 1000 km south of the city of Tokyo. The antenna site is surrounded by rain forest, where rare species of subtropical plants inhabit. The antenna illuminated by sodium light during night time is called `Orange Pepe' as a term of endearment, likened to luminous mashroom `Green Pepe'.
