Ishigakijima Astronomical Observatory is located at Ishigaki island in Yaeyama islands in southwesternmost part of Japan. Observational studies on solar system bodies and transient objects are carried out with geographical advantage. Because the elevation angle of the ecliptic plane where solar system objects are located is much higher than other domestic observatories. The atmospheric condition is also stable, and high quality images of planets like Jupiter and Saturn can be obtained. Transient phenomena of comets and asteroids are also often observed. Observation of aftergrow of gamma-ray burst (GRB08123A) on 4th of December 2008 was also successful.
